211 LA County is dedicated to improving the quality of life for all residents in Los Angeles County by providing access, through caring and professional guidance and advocacy, to essential community health and human services. However, there are thousands of human service agencies in the county and tens of thousands of programs; providing access is not as simple as picking up a telephone and answering a question. For 211 LA County to provide accurate referrals, three core departments must complete five core services.


Collect, Organize and Maintain Information

The Resource Department collects information from Los Angeles County's human service agencies and organizes that information on the agency database according nationally recognized standards.


Access and Distribute Information

The Information and Referral Department determines the needs of callers, retrieves the appropriate referral information from the database, and distributes the information to the callers.

The Community Outreach Department distributes information about 211 and 211 services to local governments, agencies, and corporate interests.
